Practice List Closure
Due to a steady increase in the number of patients and a suddent unexpected reduction in clinical staff we have made the very difficult decision to Close the Practice List on 13.12.17 in order to safeguard the quality of the service that we provide for the patients currently registered with our Practice.
We are sorry that it has been necessary to take this course of action and trust that you understand the reasoning behind our decision.
You can find alternative GP practices & GP’s in your area by visiting:
NHS choices website www.nhs.net
Please note we reduced our Outer Boundary on 28.12.17 and further information regarding this can be found on the latest news page (posters are displayed around the Practice). Patients who live at their current address in our outer boundary will remain registered with this Practice, however, if patients move to another address in our outer boundary they will be asked to register with a Doctor nearer to thier home.
Due to the difficulties patients are experiencing with telephone access can you please telephone after 2pm for test results and after 4pm for any prescription queries (prescriptions are unable to be ordered via the telephone)
When booking an appointment please do not be offended when the receptionists ask what your problem is. They have been instructed to do this by the Doctors to be able to direct you to the most appropriate person. You may be offered an appointment with a prescribing Nurse Practitioner who can provide you with a prescription and/or advise about your medical problem or query.
Please inform staff of any change to your telephone number as we are now able to text information to your mobile including appointment reminders. You can 'opt out' of having text messages sent to you at any time by informing reception
Please note we do not routinely contact you if your blood tests/x-rays are normal.

Historically the practice resulted from the combination of four practices covering Normanby, Eston, Grangetown, South Bank and the whole of Middlesbrough. It moved to 545 Normanby Road from South Bank in 1980 and from Longlands Road and North Ormesby to Crossfell Health Centre in May 1999. The Health Centre provides excellent, well equipped, purpose-built premises which offer a high quality surgery environment for both patients and practice team.
The Practice Philosophy
The aim of the practice is to provide high quality care at the point of need to our practice population (and other temporary residents). We will endeavour to anticipate needs and intervene with preventative strategies where available.
We encourage development of all our staff through recognised training schemes and in-house training and professional development in line with the White Paper expectations.
The care of our patients is fundamental to the service we provide and it should be recognised that the patient has responsibility in part for their own wellbeing. To that end we may prescribe treatments to aid a particular complaint or condition and may recommend changes and modifications in lifestyle to promote patients’ wellbeing.
We will review and monitor the services we provide to ensure that our commitment to high quality patient care remains constant.
